Rick Wuestling
Rick has been practicing law in Missouri for forty-two years. He has tried over sixty jury trials in Missouri Circuit Courts or the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He has been the lead appellate lawyer in over twenty -five appeals in the Missouri Courts of Appeals, the Missouri Supreme Court, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
He has spent most of his career defending lawyers, insurance brokers, architects, engineers, and other licensed professionals in malpractice actions. Best Lawyers in America, whose members are determined by peer selection and annual peer review, has named him its St. Louis Lawyer of the Year for Legal Malpractice Defense in 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021. In past years, Super Lawyers has named him one of the top fifty lawyers in St. Louis.
Rick is devoting more and more of his professional time as a Mediator or Arbitrator. His experience with professional liability and causation analysis, complex damages, and insurance coverage issues make him uniquely suited to serve as an arbitrator or mediator in such cases. From his experience trying jury trials and arguing appeals he is well able to provide litigants with valuable analysis, insight, and guidance on how to resolve their case.
In December 2009, Rick was elected by Missouri lawyers who reside in St. Louis County, Missouri to serve a six-year term on the Twenty First Judicial Commission. The Commission provides the Governor with a panel of three candidates to fill vacancies on the bench of the Circuit Court of St. Louis County. The Commission is composed of two elected attorneys, the Chief Judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District, and to lay people who are appointed by the Governor.
