Hon. Gary Oxenhandler
Professional Experience:
Judge Oxenhandler served 14 years as a Circuit Court Judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit (Boone and Callaway Counties) until his retirement in 2016. During his tenure on the bench, he served as Presiding Judge for the Circuit and was assigned by the Supreme Court as a Special Master to hear matters throughout Missouri. He also presided over 225 + civil and criminal jury trials and thousands of settlement conferences. He was appointed by the Supreme Court to Missouri’s Sentencing Advisory Commission and as Chair of that Commission by the Governor. Prior to joining the Bench, Judge Oxenhandler was in a private general practice firm in Columbia, Missouri, and was active in the community serving as President of the Boone County Bar Association, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Columbia’s Race Relations Task Force. Since his retirement from the Bench, he serves on the Supreme Court’s Commission on Racial and Ethnic Fairness and the Criminal Law Task Force. Prior to his retirement, Judge Oxenhandler received the Missouri Supreme Court’s Circuit’s Judge Excellence Award. Judge Oxenhandler served in the U.S. Army and received his Bachelor’s Degree and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri - Columbia. He devotes his practice to mediation and arbitration. He is counsel with OxenhandlerLaw and “Of Counsel” with Evans & Dixon. He and Janet have been married for 50 years. Their son, Josh, is associated with Evans & Dixon.
